Loved my Vicki (sama)
I started using the storchenweige vicki when my first child was born and he lived in it until he was about 2. There is nothing that compares to the softness and versatility of this sling. I believe the other striped slings have the same smooth weave. It is so soft, but does not slip. I could wear this sling for hours at a time, even with a heavy child (he was 23 pounds by the time he was 4 months old). I have even used it several times to carry him on my back while my 2nd child was on my front in a homemade sling when his legs got too tired (at 3+years). I used this sling for the first six months with my 2nd child and, much to my dismay, lost it. I have been borrowing a didymos from a friend since then and it just does not compare in comfort for either of us. I found this site looking for a storchenweige to buy for my sister in law who is in labor as I write this, and am considering buying myself a new vicki as well even though my "baby" is now 18 months. The prices here are significantly lower than other places on the web. I cannot recommend this sling highly enough.
A note on "softness": This is a relative term for those of you new to woven slings. I did not realize this when I read reviews of slings before trying them. Now, borrowing a sling from another highly regarded brand, I can truely say that the storchenweige is soooo soft. When you first receive it, you will think I am crazy because the fabric at first feels stiff, but it softens with washing, not to the point of silk sheets, or a soft t-shirt, but that is not what you want from fabric that is purposed to carry your baby in a supportive way. That said, it is soft enough to use as a blanket when the need arises, and large enough to have a picnic on (if you lay it out folded into a overlapping zigzag). This sling was my most indispensible piece of baby gear and helped to keep the rest of life with babies simple and clutter free!
